The Grand Buffet has a children’s station with kid-friendly foods like french fries, chicken bites, pizza, fruits, and vegetables. When traveling with kids, especially ones that may be a little picky like mine, food can be an issue.
The breakfast buffet was my favourite and we never got sick of the food.

There are 16 restaurants located on the property plus a large Grand Buffet with nightly cuisine themes. The absolute selling feature of this resort is the unbelievable quality of food and level of service by the staff. There are pop, juice boxes, and snacks in your room. Fully-stocked mini-bars are also part of your all-inclusive stay. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. You can also request a crib or an extra bed for your room. Most rooms accommodate 4 guests (one king or two doubles) so if you have a larger bunch, you will require connecting rooms. If you have children that nap, you can tuck them into their air-conditioned bed and spend the afternoon relaxing in the pool, just outside the door. I promise it’s worth every penny to upgrade. With all of these amenities, it’s a wonder why you even need to leave your room! Building 89 is a great and quiet option for families and swim-up suites are available for west-facing rooms. Imagine waking up, ordering room service, stepping out onto your patio, and right into your swim-up pool. The 9 pm start time was too late for our kiddos so we weren’t able to stay up to watch any!

Children stay and eat for free when booking a room with adults! If you are a fan of the nightly entertainment then you’ll be pleased to see the number of quality shows offered in the evenings. When you stay at The Grand, you have access to the other Palace Resorts, like the connected properties: The Nizuc and The Sunrise. This 123-acre, 5-star resort holds 1,300 rooms but is so spread out that it will never leave you feeling crowded. Upon arriving at the property you’ll immediately notice that The Grand is GRAND and it’s obvious that they spared no expense when creating this property. It’s totally up to you as to whether or not you bring those or not! Transportation to and from the airport can be arranged through your stay, although car seats are not provided.
Cancun is a five-hour flight from Calgary but many airlines fly direct, which is a must for when I travel long distances with my kids! The Grand at Moon Palace is located 15-minutes from the Cancun, Mexico airport, on the secluded shores of the Carribean Sea. It was a welcome break for our family this year and I would definitely do it again. I’ve never taken a long trip in December before, usually because we are so busy with holiday festivities.
